I went to Tony Brown's Speak poetry reading at the Woodland Spice and Tea Company last night.
What a nice place. More cafes need tree branches and chinese lanterns inside.
When the reading ended, the people in the room didn't want to leave. there was a nice bowfront table with two drawers there--really beat up and painted white. Next time I go, I'm going to ask if it's for sale. It's obviuosly old, but it's made with veneers, so probably not very valuable--not something that would require any kind of preservation or restoration or protection--just an interesting piece of furniture that has seen a lot.
I'm glad I went. I'm going to go when the reading meets again on October 9.
From the Poets' Asylum website:
Speak... is being billed as a differnet kind of poetry reading. This new poetry reading starts August 28th and will (eventually) meet on the second and fourth Wednesday each month from 7 to 9:30 p.m. The format is an open mike with a theme and a featured poet. The reading is hosted by Tony Brown.
